Target MObile CouponsTarget has been one of the chief innovators in the burgeoning field of mobile couponing. In order to be able to use mobile coupons, you need a smart phone or any other phone that displays pictures that are sent along with text messages. Target mobile coupons can be signed up for by texting the word “coupons” (minus the quotation marks) to “827438” (also minus the quotation marks; by the way, some of the letters associated with these numbers on your phone’s keypad spell “Target”). Once you are signed up, you will receive two to ten coupon barcodes in your text message inbox every other Saturday.  You can also sign up for Target mobile coupons here.

At this point, you’re probably thinking, “This sounds great, but how do I use these coupons once I have them in my text message inbox?” On a Target shopping expedition, any coupons that are relevant to your purchase will be scanned by the cashier when you are ready to check out. Unfortunately, you can only use each of these mobile coupons once, but they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for greater savings.

One of the best features of mobile coupons is that you don’t have to clip anything (as Target says on their website, “no scissors required”); another great feature is that you don’t have to carry physical copies of the coupons with you and risk losing them. If the mobile coupon barcodes you receive are for items that you purchase regularly for yourself and/or your family, this is a good way to save money (in addition to being a good way to save time that would otherwise be spent sitting at the table with the good ole’ scissors. Mobile couponing is another wonderful example of technology making all of our lives easier!
